Market Place
Throughout the day in conjunction with The Derby Live Big Lunch and the BBC Big Screen it is planned to have two separate activities taking place in the Market Place during the morning and afternoon, and these, in keeping with the "Youth of Derbyshire" theme, are intended to provide an opportunity for young people to display their talents and skills by providing live performances on the Market Place and also to provide space for groups to have a "stall" in designated areas in order to promote their activities.
Performance aspects
We would welcome bids from youth organisations to provide music e.g. Steel Bands, Corps of Drums, Piping etc, or Dance displays, such as Folk Dancing, National Dances, etc and Choirs who can provide their own music. These performances will take place immediately below the large screen at the East end of the Market Place and will be on the slabbed floor, thus Physical Training, Tumbling and Gymnastics activities will only be considered if satisfactory H&S and Insurance factors can be provided by the participant group. Dependant on bids, it may be that selection will be necessary and if that does take place, representative choices will be made to ensure fair inclusion.
Stalls
Groups will be able to have space on the Market Place for a "stall" through which they can promote their activities. It will be permissible for minor sales and low profile fund raising to be carried out. The ground space will be approx 10ft X 10ft. Space is very limited but every effort will be made to accommodate as wide a selection as possible with, perhaps, a representative stall to promote like activities e,g, Scouts. Groups will need to provide their own stall and transport to and from the event. No parking facilities can be provided so groups will need to make their own arrangements. Accommodation to change in to costume will be provided but notification will be necessary. Once bids are to hand, a meeting will be called and a programme worked up. We do hope that you will respond favourably and join us in making these celebrations a memorable event
Muster of Standards and Banners
The Muster will form up around the Market Place and after a short parade will march into the Great Hall of the Assembly Rooms at the commencement of the concert.
Concert
An evening event in the Assembly Rooms Great Hall. The concert is being organised by Colour Sergeant Adrian Beckett, Welsh Guards, which will include sound lighting and special effects. He will be the sole organiser of the musical performance which includes choosing the programme and the music. The main body of the concert must be well rehearsed before the day and he will ensure that supporting bands have met this commitment, the main body of the band will therefore largely comprise of the local cadet forces who do play together at other events. Other musicians could join the band but would need to be available all day Saturday 02 June and in the afternoon of the concert for rehearsals. Additional performers should not be larger groups as the stage will be configured for the main band but could include small ensembles such as - Quartet, Quintets either string or brass or woodwind. Soloists - Instrumental or voice Young Musician at county level Choir can be seated in Choir Stalls for whole concert.
Concert Tickets
Groups participating in the days event will be issued with a block of free tickets for the concert. Please feel free to contact me for any further information.
