Swadlincote Air Cadets join Britain’s largest charity fundraising shopping site

The 1211 (Swadlincote) Squadron ATC has signed up to Britain’s largest charity fundraising shopping site, easyfundraising.org.uk, to help boost its funds.

The Squadron, one of nearly one thousand in the international Corps, made the move to strengthen its fundraising activities. Although sponsored by the Royal Air Force, the Air Cadet Organisation relies heavily on the generous donations of well-wishers.

Air Cadet Organisation fundraiser, Squadron Leader Grahame Cooke RAFR MBE, explains: “Shopping through easyfundraising.org.uk is aimed at supporting the Squadron and there is potential to raise significant amounts; it is not time consuming and can be done in the comfort of the home; simply brilliant.”

Easyfundraising.org.uk works with more than 33,000 registered organisations, turning everyday shopping into donations for good causes. Consumers shop with one of more than 2,000 partner retailers featured on the site to secure an average 5% donation for their preferred good cause. It helps not only major charities, but also thousands of schools, sports clubs, scout groups and other good causes. So far the site has raised more than £2.6million for charities and is on target to give away a further £1million this year.

Easyfundraising.org.uk Managing Director, Gary Thompson, added: “On top of the funds raised by generous Air Cadet supporters, easyfundraising.org.uk is adding an extra 20% to support the youth organisation and their cause. We’re delighted to be working with the Air Cadet Organisation and help them provide funds for training towards life skills for their young people. It is becoming harder and harder for good causes to be creative with their fundraising; so we are pleased to help in this way.”
