A vacancy for the post of Cadet Administrative Assistant with Derbyshire ACF will arise in June 2013.
This position would suit someone with previous experience in the Regular Forces or Territorial Army in at least the rank of Staff Sergeant or equivalent. However, all applicants with suitable experience will be considered. The appointment calls for:
A good knowledge of administrative and stores accounting procedures and the security requirements of Weapons and ammunition.
The ability to handle routine correspondence, an understanding of routine staff duties and be willing to undertake daily manual tasks.
A current driving licence including category D and E.
Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications in particular WORD and EXCEL.
Applicants must hold suitable HSW qualifications.
The successful applicant will be based in Ilkeston and must live within reasonable travelling distance of Derby.
The starting salary is £22,039 (All Hours Worked). The salary quoted includes an addition for working unsocial hours and for hours worked in excess of standard hours. Those who are eligible and elect to join the pension scheme will also receive a non-pensionable 6% enhancement to cover superannuation contributions.
The successful applicant, as a condition of employment, will be required to join the Army Cadet Force in a non-commissioned role and would be paid the appropriate rate for any training carried out in accordance with current regulations.
There is a holiday entitlement of 25 days annual leave on entry (previous HM Armed Forces service and previous service in the Public Sector may attract additional entitlement) plus public holidays.
The appointment is for a probationary period of three months in the first instance.
The successful candidate will also be required to be security cleared prior to the appointment; this will include an Enhanced Check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Association Works Officer Project Manager (PM)
A vacancy exists for an Association Works Officer Project Manager in the Association Headquarters. This post is based in Nottingham and the successful candidate will be expected to reside within daily travelling distance. This is a Crown Service Grade C2 post.
The post holder is responsible to the Head of Estates for all Minor New Works including the commissioning and supervision of consultants, preparation of contract documents including drawings, specifications and schedules of work contractor appointments, invitations to tender, and supervision of contractors on sites.
The Association’s area of responsibility covers Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland. The properties include Territorial Army Centres, Joint Cadet Centres, Army Cadet Premises, Air Training Corps premises, properties (mainly within schools) occupied by the Combined Cadet Force and High Street Careers Offices in several towns. The properties are managed and maintained in accordance with the building and financial policy laid down by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).
The successful candidate will be RCIS/CIOB qualified. IT literate, highly effective, self motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills, and well organised with the ability to identify and prioritise targets. A detailed knowledge of the Armed Forces and cadets is not required and can be gained in the appointment. The successful candidate will also be required to possess a current driving licence

A vacancy will arise in May 2013 for an Association Works Officer (Central) in the Association Headquarters. This post is based in Nottingham and the successful candidate will be expected to reside within daily travelling distance. This is a Crown Servant Grade D post.

Cadet Deputy Commandant Non Military Training - Derbyshire Army Cadet Force
A vacancy will occur on 1st May 2013 for the post of Deputy Cadet Commandant Non Military Training with the Derbyshire Army Cadet Force based in the TAC, Sinfin Lane, Derby. The County ACF comprises 32 detachments with approximately 950 staff and cadets on strength.
Candidates must hold or have previously held a Land Forces commission and will have ideally served in the rank of Major (or equivalent) or above in the Regular, Reserve or Cadet Forces and be under 57 years of age. The appointment requires a TA GL Section B Commission and the successful applicant will be granted the acting rank of Lieutenant Colonel, depending on background.
The appointment is for an initial term of three years. A successful candidate will require MOD security clearance to SC level and a satisfactory CRB Enhanced Disclosure
The post of Deputy Cadet Commandant is a voluntary appointment and will be paid up to a maximum of 28 days per annum under the Paid Training Days scheme. In addition, payment for residence to place of duty and motor mileage allowances may also be claimed when on official ACF duty.

The Army Cadet Force is a youth organisation offering young people between 12 and 18 the opportunity to have fun, adventure and make friends whilst learning – military skills, shooting, survival techniques, kayaking, rock-climbing, hill walking, mountain biking and much more. They have great summer camps at home and overseas plus the opportunity to gain some very useful qualifications. They also contribute to their local communities by helping with worthwhile projects and by raising money for a wide array of charities.
As an Adult Instructor in your spare time, enabling Army Cadets to learn new skills, overcome fears or difficulties and become responsible citizens is incredibly rewarding. Being an Instructor also gives you a chance to develop your own strengths such as leadership skills, team building and confidence – and you can gain vocational qualifications up to Master’s degree level in various management and training courses.
To become an Adult Instructor in the Army Cadet Force you need to be a British or Commonwealth citizen aged between 18 and 55. You should be reasonably fit and feel you can make a difference to the life of young people. Full training is given and uniforms are provided. The normal commitment is one or two evenings a week plus some weekends. There is also an Adventure training week and a 2-week Annual Camp. Travel expenses are reimbursed and instructors can be paid for full days training.
